God's Way, Not My Way

Updated: Mar 12

The Corona Virus has taken hold of the spotlight in our world at this time, however, I prefer to see it as an opportunity to make the Lord the centre of our attention and place the spotlight on Him. God promises that those who obey His commands and love Him will be protected from famine and pestilence (Psalm 91). Read it daily as a reminder, I've included it below. This is the opportunity to come to the Lord in the way He has instructed us to - not by blood sacrifices and generous or kind actions, but through Jesus Christ of Nazareth. God has given us the exact instructions in His word which guarantee us salvation and eternal life with Him by having faith in Jesus Christ and what He did for us by being the sin sacrifice on our behalf. Let this season of massive change in our world bring you closer to Him by studying His word and understanding what He is calling us to do, why and how to return to Him.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” Psalm 91

Further on in the Book of Exodus we learn about God's instruction to the Israelites pointing us to modern day reality and how in these times of confusion and uncertainty He is giving us the instructions we need to be safe and provided for. The Living God our Father is not a God of confusion. He gives us peace and clarity amidst great trials and oppression. Stand on this truth and rejoice in the Lord's promises to those who love Him and follow His way and instruction. This is not a time to want to go our own way and do what we think is right. He is leading us. He warned us this time was coming. He is showing us the way.

May you and your family be blessed and protected. May I also remind you of Jeremiah 17:7-8 - Trust Him and place your confidence in Him. Be like a tree planted by the water, send your roots by the stream. Do not fear when the heat comes and your leaves will always be green. Do not worry in a year of drought and you will never fail to bear fruit. I suggest you read the whole of Jeremiah chapter 17 to put the message into context. We ARE safe in the Lord's arms.

God bless and keep you
